Why RapidReader asks to read websites
The one permission it asks for, when, and what it is used for.
The first time you use something that fetches a web page, your browser asks whether to let JK RapidReader read and change your data on all websites. That happens when you:
- import a web address, or right-click a link to read or save it,
- add or refresh an RSS feed, or add a feed item to your library,
- re-fetch an article.
Click Allow. RapidReader uses it only to fetch the pages and feeds you ask for. It asks at that moment rather than at install, so you can use everything else without granting it.
Your browser’s wording sounds broad because feeds and links can point anywhere. RapidReader doesn’t read or change the pages you browse; highlighted text reaches it only when you choose Read it Fast.
If you said no
Click Allow on the banner in Feeds, or try the import again and choose Allow. You can also remove the permission at any time from the extension’s details in chrome://extensions.
AI features, Readwise and Ollama don’t need this permission. See the privacy policy.
