"Your folder is disconnected"

Why the browser forgets folder access, and how to keep it.

Browsers forget a site’s or extension’s folder access when its last tab closes. When you open RapidReader again it says Your folder is disconnected.

  1. Click Reconnect.
  2. Your browser asks whether to let RapidReader edit files in the folder. Click Allow.

If a folder picker opens instead, choose the same folder. RapidReader recognises it and reconnects without asking anything else.

Make it stick

  • Chrome, Edge and Brave: choose Allow on every visit when asked, and you won’t be asked again.
  • Arc: Arc only offers Allow or Don’t Allow, so expect one click each time you open RapidReader fresh. Keeping one RapidReader tab open avoids it: pin the reader tab yourself (Arc ignores pinning by extensions).
  • Keep a RapidReader tab pinned (Settings → About): with one reader tab pinned, other reader tabs stay connected after a single Allow. In Chrome, Edge and Brave the reader pins its own tab.

Nothing is lost while disconnected

Anything you save while the folder is disconnected is kept in the browser and merged into your folder when you reconnect. If the same article changed in both places, the folder wins.
